The principles of Catholic Social Justice are central to NETWORK’s mission, and have guided the actions of lay and religious women and men for over a hundred years. This reflection guide will explore the six core principles we at NETWORK have relied on to ground our work and direct our actions. Inside, you will read personal stories, reflect on the wisdom of fellow justice-seekers, and be invited to contemplate how you live out the principles of Catholic Social Justice in your life.

We call this collection of wisdom and instruction “Catholic Social Justice” because these principles emerged from Catholic sacred texts, official Church teaching, and the writing and witness of remarkable Catholic women and men. People of all faiths or no faith are welcomed and encouraged to learn from and live out these principles.

How to Use This Guide

This guide is designed to be used by individuals or groups. Following this introduction there are six parts, each one dedicated to a Catholic Social Justice principle with readings, quotes, reflection questions, and a prayer. We recommend spending six weeks working through all of the material. You may choose to divide the content into multiple days for reading and reflection, or set aside time once a week to go through all of the week’s materials.
